Van Gorder

Our teachers at Van Gorder are dedicated to increasing our student’s reading test scores. When looking at how reading is assessed during the CRT’s (Criterion Referenced Test), on average, 40% of the Reading questions in grades three through six are focused on showing comprehension of expository text. According to the Nevada Reading Assessment Matrix, “Students must be able to read expository and persuasive texts in order to comprehend, interpret, and evaluate for specific purposes.”
Our school library, at present, does not have the selection of non-fiction text that we would like to be able to provide each student. We would like to purchase a wide range of leveled non-fiction books.

All of the books will be kept in the school library, so all Van Gorder, grades kindergarten through sixth, will have access to them.
